Before you start...
Ensure when measuring, you take the measurement from the curtain pole or track rather than the width of the window. If you haven't fitted a new pole or track yet you will need to allow 15cm - 30cm either side of your window and 12cm - 15cm above the recess
Measuring the Width
If you have a pole, measure the full width excluding the finials. If you have a track fitted, you will need to measure the full length of the track.
Measuring the Drop
To calculate the finished length, you will need to decide the heading for your new curtains and also where you would like your curtains to finish.
Sill length: 0.5 cm above the sill
Below the Sill (that doesn't cover a radiator etc): 10-15cm below
Floor Length: Finishes 1cm off the floor, you can also have them puddle an extra 15-20cm on the floor.
Measure the Finishing Length
For Tab Top Heading
Measure from the top of the pole to your required bottom hem position, this is the drop.
Now measure the diameter of the pole and add this to your drop measurement, this gives your finished length.
For Eyelet Heading
Measure from the top of the pole to your required bottom hem position, this is the eyelet drop*.
Now add 3.5cm (1 3/8”) to this amount (this is the amount of curtain above the eyelet hole), this gives your finished length.
For Gathered & Pleated Heading
The top of our gathered curtain is fixed at a height of 3.5cm (1 3/8”) above the hook position.
Measure from the eyes of the rings/gliders to your required bottom hem position, this is the hook drop.
Now add 3.5cm to this amount to get your finished length.
For all other Headings
Firstly, decide on the height you would like the top of the curtains to finish.
For tracks, we suggest aligning the top of the curtain with the top of the track. For poles, the curtain could be level with the top, centre, or bottom of the pole.
Measure from the required curtain top position to your required bottom hem position, this is your finished length.
